Happy Friday!
And happy August!! Phew. I don’t know about you, but it is hot here. The little closet I use for recording audio is not heat-wave friendly, that’s for sure! Fortunately, each chapter ends up being only ten-fifteen minutes or so, so I can take breaks. ;)
But hold on a minute—let me back up. First of all, this month’s permission:
An August permission slip:
Let your voice be heard! Sing in the car, stand up for yourself, or even volunteer for something new.
Aaaand that’s perfectly appropriate for my audiobook experiment, as those following along will know!
So in that spirit, I’m sharing Chapter Two today, which is from Ryuko’s perspective. I still consider my “Ryuko” voice to be in development, and I may re-record this when I’m done—but for now, I thought it was actually pretty fun to try!
We just have a couple weeks left of this narration adventure before Cozy Alchemy Season Three picks up. Thanks to everyone who’s been so supportive so far!! It definitely hasn’t gone the way I planned, but to be honest, I think it’s also been better than I dared expect. I’ve got rough recordings of half the book so far, and it’s getting smoother. With luck, I’ll have a whole story to share soon!
In the meantime . . .
Lessons Learned So Far: Software Edition
I use Riverside to edit and export Worthy in Love—and I use it for my podcast, too! It does have a subscription cost (the levels vary) and an upfront learning curve, and it relies sometimes on AI features that aren’t foolproof, but all in all it’s a pretty powerful program and has really served me well. I’d recommend it for podcasts and for recording, if you’re serious enough about the project to pay a monthly fee (and this is why I was lucky that Cozy Alchemy was already up and running, and I could tinker around with narrating in my downtime!).
